Summer Free Time

I’m writing this post for all the students who are out of school and free for the summer. Another school year has come to a close and it’s time to make plans for the summer. Unfortunately in most western cultures it seems that this time out of school is expected to be a time where young people mess around and simply do whatever they feel like. I submit to you that this is unbiblical; certainly there will be many times of fun, but at the same time, this is a pivotal time in your life where you must be consciously preparing and submitting to the work that God wants to do in your life, to build you up into men and women after His pattern. We weren’t meant to have our teenage years for messing around, but rather to become strong men and women capable of leading and handling their lives with dignity, purpose, and honor.

This summer, examine your time and see if you’re pursuing the things of God and becoming responsible adults. Forget the video games, the t.v., the endless hours on facebook; and start building character. Seek God, study His word, and let Him do a work in your life this summer. May this be a summer that shapes the rest of your life for the Lord, and not simply a summer wasted away with things of this world.

And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.
Romans 13:11-14

This summer put on the Lord Jesus Christ and make no provision for the flesh! For His kingdom and His glory, have a great summer!
